Hakone Kowakien Mikawaya Ryokan

Amazing place with free Wi-Fi, a restaurant, and 24-hour reception. The staff helped me find great dining options during my first stay. I highly recommend trying the traditional Japanese meals. I'm coming back for Christmas.

The total stay was perfect in winter. All the staff was really helpful and caring. The breakfast had lots of food, including amazing fresh bread, cereals, fruit, and omelette. The location was comfortable and beautiful, to most major transport links for other sights, it's a plus. The hotel met the needs, I would absolutely stay here again.

A good onsen retreat

After a long day of exploring, we basked in our private onsen, surrounded by tranquility. The staff anticipated our needs.

On our last morning, we encountered a bit of confusion with breakfast timings which delayed our meal. It was unfortunate, but we managed to enjoy our time nonetheless.

The view of wooded hills from our good-sized and brand-new room was magnificent! The staff were both outstandingly accommodating and best. Location: the hotel was just off the Odakyu railway as well as other sights.

The private onsen offered a serene escape. Our room had a strong moldy smell that was off-putting. Staff were helpful, especially the friendly Nepalese women. Dinner and breakfast included beautifully prepared authentic meals. I'd recommend staying at least two nights to enjoy the full experience.

Unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. The room we received smelled musty, which really affected our enjoyment. We tried to contact the hotel for assistance with our reservation but received no replies, which left us frustrated. The food was good but didn't meet my expectations considering the price we paid.

This place was such a treat with its stunning private onsen and the delicious multi-course meals that really showcased local flavors. I loved relaxing in the open-air bath and enjoying the peaceful garden views, making it a perfect getaway. The only downside was that some of the traditional meals might not suit every palate, but it was fun to try new dishes! 🌸

The meals were really good, with a fantastic selection that even got my little one to try new foods!

My kids wished the rooms had dedicated shower facilities for more convenience.

During my recent trip to Hakone, I had a lovely stay in a room with a personal hot spring. The cozy room had tatami mats and authentic Japanese touches, making it feel luxurious yet traditional. I enjoyed the meals provided, which were beautifully presented and packed full of flavor. The location was also convenient, with easy access to bus lines connecting to many local attractions, like the Hakone Craft House and Hakone Kowakien Yunessun.

the sink in our room was a bit loose but the private onsen was super relaxing the meals were beautifully presented and delicious the staff were friendly and catered to my dietary needs (no dairy or eggs)
